Penny Arcade is selling out

My favourite webcomic, Penny Arcade, is selling out . The clever and sharp humour that is used in the comic always brings a smile to my face, and I am always looking forward to reading the next one. Tycho and Gabe, the alter-ego’s of the creators, Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, want to try to run the website solely on donations for one year.

A decade ago they had to do the same thing, forced by the bursting of the ‘dot-com’ bubble. Back in the day it was called ‘begging’, instead of ‘crowd-funding’. Because they have succeeded in the past they will probably do it again, since they have a large enough reader-base that has only gotten larger and larger since the previous money-collecting-round.

I sincerely hope Penny Arcade will succeed, so we can see how the webcomic might improve!
