When you live on a vegan or vegetarian diet, something you will encounter frequently is hummus, a paste made of mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Truth be told I don’t really like the taste of the pure stuff. You can buy different variants of hummus, for example with pineapple or some herbs mixed in, yet this doesn’t add any ‘punch’ to it. What I like to do is add a drop of Tabasco (or any kind of hot-sauce) to my hummus because it makes it spicier. Give it a try next time you eat hummus, it will surprise you!
